i think that it was just an opportunity for the guys to make fun of charlie. but now that he is getting smarter he is realizing that they are making fun of him and they are not really his friends but they are people who make fun of him because he doesn't realize it is happening.
I think it was pretty ridiculous that they would take him to that party just to make fun of him and laugh at him.
