I do think Charlie gets smarter through out his progress reports. His spelling and grammer improves a lot. He also starts using bigger words that are harder to understand. He starts to correct teachers and scientist about what they are teaching about. He notices the flaws in their teaching as well.
Yes I think he gets smarter throughout the progress reports because his writing gets better and he started learning and writing bigger words. He also was remembering more memories from his childhood. He also understood things that the professors didn't even understand.

He doesn't use simple words anymore and his progresses get longer. Throughout the progress reports he has more memories in them which is another way you can tell he is getting smarter.
