Question- Carissa

In Charlie's dreams he's been seeing his parents, Matt and Rose. Matt has been completely together and calm about Charlie's disabilities, Rose on the other hand has not.

Why do you think Rose is trying to push Charlie to be a regular kid?

  1. I think that Rose is in denial. I think that before she had kids, she had visions of her life planned out. She had an idea that she would have a perfect family and live a wonderful life. When she had Charlie, she was in complete denial that her big "plan" would be ruined. I think that she refused to come to her senses and admit that her life didn't turn out perfect as she expect. Because of this, she pushed Charlie to be a regular kid in hopes that he would become regular.

  2. I think Rose is trying to push Charlie to be a regular kid because she wants him to be like any other normal kid and can't really accept Charlie's disabilities. She's trying many different things to help him to be a regular kid but she doesn't accept the fact that he isn't a regular kid and has some disabilities. From Rose's perspective, having a child with disabilities may be very hard to deal with and be troubling at times.

  3. I think ROse is pushing him to be smart because she's ashamed of him. She can't accept that he wont grow up like all the other kids. I think she also had something happen to herself in the past and Charlie is a constand reminder of it.
