I think Charlie's mom slapped him when he tried to pick up Norma because she thought Charlie would drop her. Charlie was not at all smart then. His mom was probably worrying that he would hurt Norma. I don't believe that Charlie's mom liked him very much because he was not as smart as she hoped he would be and didn't want him to have a negative impact on Norma's academic ability.
I think his mom doesnt trust him enough. She thought he would drop here or do something but i think Charlie would never do that. His mom doesnt care about him and disrespects him.
I agree with that. I think she was really scared that he'll drop her because he isn't the smartest and he doesn't know what he is doing. His mom was scared he wont be careful enough.
Charlie's mom slapped him when he tried to hold his sister when she was crying because she was always worried he would drop or hurt her somehow. Charlie's mom wanted his sister to be "normal" unlike Charlie. She had a second chance and didn't want to mess things up. His mother It was because of his sister that Charlie had to go away.
