When Charlie wrote his hypothesis did you already have an idea before he wrote it that anything that happened to Algernon would happen to Charlie or was that a shocker to you?
Yes, I did have an idea about the fact that Charlie would also regress similar to Algernon. Algernon's erratic behavior pinpointed a deficiency in the procedure, along with Nemur and Strauss' presentation at the scientific conference in Chicago. From that point, Charlie knew there was an error in the intelligence inducing process, he just didn't know what. All of these things together gave the story a sort of tense feeling, as if something was going to break out; you just had to keep reading to find out.
Yes I expected Charlie to have the same results as Algernon because they both had the same operation and were injected with the same material. When Algernon started acting funny and thrashing around the mazes I knew it would happen to Charlie too.
